What is a Seniors Living Community?

A senior living community is generally a housing facility or community designed specifically for senior adults; but in some facilities, personal assistance is allowed and services are usually available. It may have a very simple environment, which are furnished with furniture and utilities, a kitchen and dining area, and a laundry room, as well as an array of activities, but it may also include a variety of other services such as medical, mental health, athletic, educational, recreational, and religious facilities.
Seniors living community houses elderly people who require medical, dental, rehabilitative, or any other specialized services in their homes. They may have problems such as arthritis, kidney disease, heart problems, etc., and the staff at the senior living facility may assist them in managing such health problems through programs that are provided by the community.
Seniors living community homes can be large complexes with hundreds of residences, or they may be smaller communities, usually less than a mile square. The facilities can range from independent apartments to gated communities where a wide variety of amenities are offered. The residents of the community may be retired, disabled, or have some type of medical condition that requires professional assistance. They may have problems with mobility or be unable to walk long distances or use stairs; they may have difficulty talking; or they may need help with bathing or dressing. Seniors living community can help residents with any type of problem and make it easier for them to live independently.

If you are living at a senior community center or a home that is independent, most senior living centers provide some services that are similar to those that are offered by a nursing home.
If you choose to go to a private establishment that is not a senior community, you may want to look into the services that are offered to you before signing on the dotted line. Some centers offer services like fitness centers and pools, and a gym may be one of these options, or you could look into health clubs, fitness classes, swimming or tennis courts, gyms, and more.
